Change of Plans

Back in February I was offered a job at a mixed animal practice in southern Idaho and I accepted. We thought this was a good place to start. We would be close enough to Jerome so Randy could potentially continue to work/volunteer for Idaho Fish and Game. We wanted to be in southern Idaho and it was about half way from either of our families. The owner was great as were his staff. We had found a good option for housing. It seemed like a good fit for us.

The following is from one of my instragram posts from about a month ago.

"The last week has been quite a whirlwind. We thought we had our next step in life planned out and things were starting to come together until I decided last Tuesday to decline the job I had accepted (for a variety of reasons). That was one of the scariest things I've ever done. At that point graduation day was 3.5 weeks away and now I didn't have a job. The thought of moving to Utah started entering my mind and this time I didn't reject it. I've never had any intention of moving to Utah, but for some reason it seems to be the right thing to do for us at this time. I have spent this past week interviewing for jobs in the northern Utah area and I have been surprised at the number of practices looking for help. This week has been exhausting, but many doors of opportunities have opened (much more then I anticipated). I will be leaving Utah tomorrow with multiple job offers, but I have no idea which one to choose. Today I was finally able to make it to the temple for one precious hour to clear my head. I still don't know what job to take or what the future holds, but in the temple I was able to find peace."

Yesterday I signed the contract for employment at a small animal practice in the Roy/West Haven area of Utah. I will be working 4 days a week with one Saturday a month, no emergencies, or on call. I will be the 8th doctor in this practice. This schedule was particularly appealing as it will allow Randy and I to spend more time together. For now the plan is to move into my parents' basement for about 6 months while we decide where we want to live (hopefully somewhere we can have the horses) and Randy figures out what he is going to do (fingers crossed he can start grad school this fall!). My parents' house is only 5 minutes from work. I am excited to spend more time with my siblings. I have been away for 8 years and I missed out on them growing up. We also have friends from vet school moving to Utah (BONUS!).

Moving to Utah feels like this is the right thing to do for our family at this time. I am looking forward to see what this adventure will bring to our family.

Mom, Chantel, and I went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point during that week I was in Utah interviewing- the flowers were amazing!!!

Graduation Photos

Brooklin took graduation photos for me. It had been raining that morning and we were able to sneak in the photos in-between rain showers.

Easter 2016

A bit late:

This was the first year since 2012 that Randy and I were together to celebrate Easter! Randy was able to come home for about 5 days. This was his last trip home before graduation so we spent a majority of time with friends.

Thursday, Sarah came over to hang out a little bit. I am going to miss this lady- she has become a rock that I have come to depend on rain or shine. Friday we met up with Brooklin to take graduation photos for me. When we were finished we indulged in some Ferdinand's ice cream. Saturday we spent the day with Rebecca and Bryan. We started our the day by hiking/exploring at Hog Lake. We rounded out the day with dinner at South Fork, playing games, and eating way too much chocolate at our house. This was our last time to be together in Pullman. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can have our game playing friends together again.

Easter Sunday, I sang an arrangement of  "He Sent His Son" with my friend Brittany. That evening Amanda and Jake came over to color eggs and dinner. The boys weren't super excited about coloring eggs, but they were good sports.
